Creating inclusive accessible learning for innovative organizations via human-centered design, process improvement, and skills development.

About Me

Welcome to the intersection of accessible innovation and human-centered adult learning. I am an Instructional Designer with a Master’s Degree in Adult Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology, an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and ICF-accredited certifications in Health & Life Coaching.

I leverage my robust skills to create inclusive and accessible learning experiences for innovative organizations, leveraging barrier-free design, human-centered thinking, and process improvement to deliver impactful programs tailored to diverse needs. Passionate about Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and dedicated to creating inclusive, accessible, human-centered, adult e-Learning solutions.

In my personal time, I enjoy volunteering for 🧠 ADDA the ⛑️ Red Cross disaster team, spending time with my rambunctious Boston Terrier 🐾 , and friends & family. I also enjoy spinning, hiking and exploring - and all things personal-growth.

My LxD Process

  • My methodology prioritizes andragogical principles, accessibility frameworks such as UDL, P.O.U.R. and WCAG standards, and thorough analysis and evaluation. Through my planning and development, I tailor learning to the unique needs of adult learners to drive engagement and build self-efficacy. I strategically implement inclusive multimedia and adhere to accessibility standards to stimulate engagement while keeping cognitive load manageable.

  • To conduct a needs analysis, I start by gathering information through interviews, surveys, and observations to understand the current state and identify gaps in knowledge, skills, or performance. Then, I analyze the data to determine the root causes of the identified needs and prioritize them based on their impact and feasibility of addressing them. Finally, I collaborate with stakeholders to validate findings and develop targeted interventions that align with organizational goals and learner needs.

  • In my design process, I outline the flow of the e-learning module, specifying the content, interactions, and multimedia elements for each screen. I focus on creating a clear narrative structure with scaffolding and visual hierarchy to guide learners through the material effectively. I systematically and thoughtfully include interaction throughout design to maintain engagement and interest and add value to the experience. Never adding interaction just for the sake of interaction. Finally, I collaborate with stakeholders to review and refine the storyboard before moving on to the development phase.

  • In my development process, I utilize a combination of tools such as Articulate Storyline for interactive course creation, Vyond for animated content, Slido for real-time interaction, and LMS platforms for delivery and tracking. I integrate knowledge checks to gather drive engagemen and provide temperature checks for learners along the way. Additionally, I adhere to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure a robust, accessibile and inclusive to enhance the learning experience for diverse audiences.

  • After final project owner an stakeholder approval, I begin by deploying the developed content onto the chosen Learning Management System (LMS) for accessibility to learners. I conduct thorough testing, QA (self and others) to ensure functionality and accessibility across different devices and platforms. Additionally, I provide training and support for instructors or facilitators who will deliver the content. Throughout implementation, I monitor engagement and effectiveness through analytics provided by the LMS, surveys, and gather feedback for iterative improvements.

  • In my evaluation process, I often start with pre- and post-assessments to measure learner knowledge and skill acquisition. I integrate Qualtrics surveys to gather qualitative feedback on the learning experience, addressing areas for improvement. When available, I partner with research and analytics teams to conduct more in-depth analyses, focus groups and identify trends and engagement, over time. My superpower is leveraging data to refine content and enhance learning outcomes. This collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive evaluation that informs iterative improvements for future iterations of the instructional materials.
